Chronic Cough

Chronic cough refers to a cough that persists for greater than 2 months in duration.

There are both allergic and non-allergic causes of chronic cough including:

  • Smoking and/or COPD
  • Infection
  • Medications
  • Vocal Cord Dysfunction

Often, the cause of chronic cough is multifactorial

Allergists are considered the experts in evaluating and managing chronic cough. Allergists can complete allergy skin tests and breathing tests as well as order and interpret other tests that may be relevant to your chronic cough.

The goals in the evaluation and management of chronic cough are to identify and mitigate any exacerbating factors.

By visiting an Allergist, you too can take control of your chronic cough and improve your quality of life.
